We are overjoyed to have shared our wedding day with you!
Of All the elevators in all of midtown, he walks into mine.
On a warm summer night, Lauren was working late at her new editing job for "Say Yes to the Dress." An Assistant Editor (AE as they're called) worked across the hall and was assigned to handle any tasks she had overnight. He walked over with pen and paper in hand to check in. Tall, with a buzz cut, clean shaven and not possibly a day over 24 years old (wink), he greeted her politely. Normally AE's seemed overeager or egotists and he seemed to be neither. She noticed how calm and collected he was, and so easy to talk to. She gave him a task (something about keyframes), they exchanged pleasantries and said goodnight. Lauren noticed him over the next few weeks, exchanging "hellos" or smiles across the hall. But when winter came, he soon left to take another job. Two Years Later... On a crisp fall morning, Lauren was late for work. She had taken a new editing position at a production company in midtown and the 3 avenue walk from Penn Station was the difference between being late and VERY late. She walked briskly. When she got to the lobby she lunged into a closing elevator. The elevator was full and more than one floor had been illuminated on the keypad..."dammit, I'm definitely late now," she thought. Standing slightly out of breath, she noticed her lips were chapped in the reflection of the elevator doors. She grabbed her chapstick and as she was adding a layer to her bottom lip, the doors opened and a few employees walked out but one paused to face her and said "Lauren?" It only took a second to register, "Matt? Hey! What are you doing here?" "I work here" he said, "on the 5th floor." As he said this, the doors closed. "I'm on 7th!" Lauren said. She wasn't sure if he'd heard her but was elated to see a friendly face. She quickly hurried to her desk to boot her computer and upon opening her email, he'd already sent her a message. "We should grab lunch one of these days, when you get a chance." Three years later... On the first snow of winter, Matt and Lauren were making pasta. It was their 3 year anniversary and because of the cold weather (and a small pandemic), they decided to dine in. They had a lot to celebrate, including just moving into their first home together. It was almost Christmas, and Ella Fitzgerald was singing carols in the background. Though unusual for Matt to dance, he decided to spin Lauren around the kitchen as their pasta boiled. "What's up with him?" Lauren thought. But as he spun her around a second time, the question was answered. Matt was on one knee. And the rest is yet to be written.
